Technology Or Not?

Did you know that by 2015, China will have twice the number of students graduating from collage than Europe and the United States combined? Technology is the answer.

Technology has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that it can speed up our learning process. The disadvantage of technology is that it gets easily broken, and it can lose data.

As we enter the business world, we realize that the grades we got in school are important to us now. By decreasing the student population in each grade and classroom, the students will be able to focus more and achieve greater success. By this, I mean that when there are fewer students in a classroom the students can get more help, and they can also concentrate better.

The technologies that we use are an advancement that we have the opportunity to use and explore. Without this technology school would not prepare us with the things that we need in order to reach success. Technology can also be a bad thing because the waves from the electronic device can make cancer a bigger threat to the human society.

The textbooks that we learned from last year, would already be outdated by iMac computers and other electronic devices. What our schools need to do, is try and keep up with the technology, or we will get left behind.

School should input more technology into our lives, and decrease the student classroom population as I wrote earlier. If the schools would give us more knowledge about the business world, than we would be more prepared for our future lives.

If students were lazy, and would just lay around their couch saying, “I’ll do it tomorrow”, than they would fall behind and wouldn’t be successful. In order to achieve greatness, you have to be committed and prepared. You also have to have a vision of your goal in your mind whenever you feel defeated, remember it and it will give you strength.

Some people think that their grades don’t matter, but when you get into high school and collage, than they really matter. If you for example got a B in biology and you want to become a nurse, than the person with an A is more likely to get into the collage or university.

This is why we should use technology, and I hope that now you know that it plays a big role in your life and future.

Are you prepared?

First Nations Presentation

I thought that the presentation was very interesting. As he spoke about what each of his ornaments represent, it all started to make sense. Turning in circles dancing, I saw the movements of his storytelling. First came the eagle soaring, then came the hunter hunting, and then the hunter making tracks. As he started to speak a bit about himself, I was amazed that the robe and the feathers that he had on, weighed about 50 pounds!!! It must have been hard to dance while carrying 50 pounds!!! The other thing that I thought was very interesting is that most of the feathers he had, were from a conservation officer, or from an elder.
As his feet moved with the music, I saw the eagle soaring, and the hunter hunting. It was like a story, but without words or pictures. Very amazing!

My Christmas

One highlight of my christmas break, was that I went to California. Over there it was like fall here, without any snow. Going to 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom was the best part about it. There was a roller coaster that went over your head, and surprisingly it wasn't even scary. Visiting my freinds was also an enjoyment that I got to have. The part about my break that wasn't fun, was the part when we had to drove home from California.

My hopes and resolutions of 2010 are that I can get an A in math, and that I can reach level 4 and go beyond it in my piano class.

Voice Story

My heart trembling, I noticed that I was being put into a dark, carton box. As I tried to scream for help, the fingers that were wrapped around the lid closed, and darkness fell around me.

Trying to breathe, I noticed that someone had opened up the box, and I was bathing in the light of the Christmas tree. Looking up, I noticed that all of the lights seemed to glow down on me. Suddenly a spark of hope and joy grew in me. As I lingered at that thought, I heard footsteps leading into the living room. In a flash, I lay down in my box, unmoving, unfeeling.I had observed the family that I was living with, and I noticed that sometimes they were full of love, and the next they screamed and raged at each other. When I watched their happy moments, I was saddened even more. My life here was a cracked rainbow with a pot of sadness at the end.

Waking up to the sun in my eyes was something that I always enjoyed, despite the yarn of dread that was always getting longer. This morning, as I looked outside of my box, I saw Grandma Sue talking to one of the little kids.
"You see that ornament over there?", she questioned.
" That was the first ornament that my grandma gave to me,", she said, memories flooding back to her.
" And now I will give it to you," she ended, her voice full of joy.
"But grandma", one of the youngsters replied.
"That ornament is faded, I want a sparkly new green one!" the boy requested.
As the grandma started to lose patience, her eyes lit up and she said, " Dear, you don't look at the faded color of the ornament, but you look at the memories that it brings back to you, and the value that it will always have in your heart," as she ended, the boys took me out of my brown carton box, and put me up on the Christmas tree.

I would always remember what the grandma said, and what an impact it had on my life.

Writing Prompt Story WIP!!!!

When I woke up and saw the snow, I was reminded of gingerbread cookies and my mother's cinnamon pie. I loved it in the winter. Icicles hanging on trees, and going sledding down my backyard. It always made me smile.

Getting dressed was always a problem for me. I had too much clothes, and I never decided on just one item. Finally, I found my blue jean pants, hidden in the far dark corner of my closet. Then I hurriedly went to my adjacent bathroom and brushed my teeth. Looking in the mirror, I noticed that my dark bangs were starting to grow over my eyes. Finally I would have an excuse for not getting my homework done, I thought to myself. Ms. Humbleberry my socials teacher was always nagging my about my bangs, and that I should get them cut. But I liked them this way. It made me feel superior.

Finally I turned off the tap, and dashed into the kitchen, there in the corner sat my dad, reading his newspaper. He was usually the first one that woke up, and the only reason he did was to get the newspaper. He was attracted to it like a pen to paper. My mother on the other hand, didn't always get up around 9:00, she slept in on the weekends to around 1:00. That were the days that I never had a good breakfast.

"Hi sweetie," stated my mother, her face shining.

"I arranged for you and Timothy to go to Lilac Park to play with your cousins", she said, her eyes sparkling.

"Uggh mom, you now that I hate playing with them, they're such babies!', I replied my voice full of disappointment. Oh well, so much for having fun, I thought to myself.

As I reached Lilac Park, I noticed that my cousins were nowhere in sight. the only thing I could see was the wind whirling around, and snow clinging to my eyelashes.

"John, Lilli, " I screamed, my voice getting carried away by the wind. Uhhhggg, it's no use, I thought. I might as well go home. As I lingered at that thought, I heard a cry for help coming from behind the bushes. Darting over to where the sound was coming from, I saw a blue scarf sticking out of the bush. Reaching forward, I grabbed the scarf and what was attached to it.

"Lilli!," I shouted, my voice full of joy. Then I saw her big, round blue eyes give way to a stream of tears.

"Where is your brother?", I asked, my voice full of concern.

"He's gone!", she replied, her voice trembling.

I raced across the park, and searched frantically for a sign of her brother. Finally after what seemed like eternity, Lilli came bolting out of the trees, running breathlessly.

"Jennie!", she called out.

"I found John, his leg his trapped under a tree, and he can't move!"

Furiously , I ran like the wind scrambling over bushes, and any obstacles in my way. Finally I reached a clearing in the park, and I found myself looking down at my cousin. His leg was in critical condition, and I didn't know what to do.

As I tried lift the heavy log off of his bruised foot, I noticed a rusty pole lying on the snow covered ground. Using my arms, I dragged the pole under the tree, and lifted it off. Groans erupted from John as he slowly tried to stand up.

"You're safe!", Lillie cried, her voice filled with happiness.

As we slowly went home, the sky darkened and we hurried along. I would always remember the expedition we had, and I had learned a valuable lesson. Working together is always better than working alone.

Opening the door, I found myself face to face with my mom. Her face was hysterical, and she looked pale.

"Why did you take so long?" she snapped, "I told you to only go for 1 hour, and you went for 4!" as she finally stopped talking, I told her what had happened, and that this could have affected John more seriously. He could have died. As she forgave me, we drew our attention to John and his profusely swelling leg.

As I lay under the covers of my bed, I realised that this day had really changed my life. Now instead of making a face when my mom asked me to babysit, I smiled and agreed. Snow crunching under my boots, I recalled the happy smiles of my cousins, as well as my own. Still smiling, I fell into a dreamy sleep.

Pine cone smells drifted into my room, as I started to stir. Slipping into my blue robe, I started to make my way downstairs. As I entered the kitchen I smelled my mom's golden waffles. Looking out the window, I saw some snowflakes reaching toward the ground. I knew that this was going to be the best day of my life.

Life for Granted

My fans cheered from the sidelines as the starter got ready to shoot the gun. I pushed the gas on my ATV as the blast from the gun echoed in my head. Driving over the rough terrain, my opponent was ahead of me. Jake Westfield. His name brought a rush of adrenaline to my body and I pushed even harder on the gas stick. I hated him. Ever since my accident from my last race, he brought anger to me. I fought hard to keep the tears from sliding down my face, as I recalled the events from my accident: As I flew over the last hill, it was too much for my quad. The screws holding the muddy wheels came off, and as I reached the ground, my leg got caught in the wheel and then everything went black. Waking up from my dreams, my vision was hazy. As I started to clear my eyes, I noticed that my mom was hovering over me. Wringing her hands together, nervously.
" Are you OK?", she asked, her voice full of worry. "My head hurts a bit, and so does my left leg
, "I replied my voice tinted with pain.
The doors leading to my room flew open, as the doctor came striding in. Then he motioned for my mom to talk with him. As he stopped talking, my mom's face was a mess. Tears rolled down her face, as she told me what was going to happen to me. My mind tried to soak in the words, but couldn't. "You will never quad again". Those words were all I heard as I drifted into a restless sleep.

Blurred vision greeted me as I groggily tried to stand up. I was confused. The next thing I knew, was that I was being trolled back into the same room I had occupied earlier. Doctors in white lab coats, and nurses hurried by us. As the nurse pushing my cart, went into my room, I noticed that my mom was sitting in the chair next to my bed. Her face was ceased with wrinkles, and she looked like she hadn't slept at all.
"Johnny, how's it going,"she asked, her voice blanketed with sleep.
"I'm fine," I replied, my voice small and quiet.

I raced around the track, as bits of dirt and small stones flew into my face. Determined, I zipped around the corner and flew down the last stretch of the track. Day after day I practised on the track, until I thought I was ready. And then it was finally Friday November 20 2009, the day of the Indy ATV Races. My body flowed with adrenaline, as I got ready for the race. As I stopped recalling the events from my accident, the starter pushed the trigger, and we were off!

It was the last stretch of the race and Jake and I were tied. Then as I was about to lose hope, I saw the finish line, with decorated balloons gracefully floating on top of the sign. At the last corner, I pulled ahead with all my might and bolted over the finish line. My fans cheered as I walked into the winners circle. Surprised, I saw Jake Westfield smiling at me. And that was the day that we became best buddies.

Halloween Day

I collect mouth-watering goodness door to door. It’s Halloween Day. We dress up in funky costumes and have a good time. Laughing about each other’s costumes brings joy to everyone including me. Wearing hats is another treat we get to enjoy on Halloween Day.
In the afternoon the loud music from the gym gets everyone in the mood to dance. Once we file into the gym, the dancing begins and the room is filled with happiness and laughter. And it’s also a good time for girls to gossip about who like’s who.
In my opinion I think that we should have the dance at night so that the Halloween spirit goes around.
When school ends we go home, and when it gets dark, we go out and collect candy. My friends dad is planning to buy some fireworks and we’re going to set them off. While I was sitting on the couch counting my candy, the news caught my eye and it said that they are planning to band fireworks on Halloween, because they can set fire to houses. I kind of see their point but, I love seeing the fireworks explode into a million pieces of colorful stars. And that's why I love Halloween so much!!

Happy Returns

My paws took me to the edge of my prison.
I was trying to understand what was happening to me. At the same time, a horrid smell came over me, enabling me to breath.

I gradually opened my eyes to find myself in a small, dirty room. At least I wasn't in my box again. I was frightened because I had no knowledge of the future and didn’t know what was going to happen to me.
I used to be an indoor cat. People would come visit my folks and they always used to say “Ohhhhhh look at that little darling!” Yet everything changed when my mistress’s husband died. Then she started treating us like dirt. She had no respect for us. It was only her husband that always gave us a glass of milk or cream when we were sick. After 4 months she re-married and decided that we were just more mouths to feed. So she separated me and my brother from our parents, and dropped us off at a kitten mill. And from that day on, I wished I was never born.
I pain in my stomach awoke me from my thoughts. As I tried to find the origin of my throbbing pain, I noticed heavy footsteps leading to my small room. I was about to scrambled for cover as a small boy about 8 came in wearing huge, oversized boots too big for his feet.
“Shhhhh,” the boy hurriedly said. “I’ll come back in a little while and rescue you, first I have to get some food”, he said, with a hint of hope in his fragile voice. He had a fragile Chinese accent. I could tell because when I was still living in the safety of my home, my master invited Chinese guests, and their English words sounded funny, like the boy’s.
As my beating heart gradually slowed, a small flame of hope grew in me. And still smiling as I regained hope, I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
As I awoke the boy returned out of breath with some food, and a carton box. “Hurry”, the boy said, his voice barely a whisper. As I scrambled into the soggy carton box, my paw got caught in a piece of barbered wire that someone had carelessly thrown into a corner.
As the boy was about to lift the box up, his eye was drawn to my paw trapped in the wire. Luckily he had pliers. The boy gently snipped the wire in half and my foot was free.
The boy picked up the box, and then he hurried across the room and out the door.
As my eyes adjusted to the dark, I could see tall buildings and hear the roar of cars in the distance. Suddenly a thought came to me, I was free. Nothing in the world had ever made me feel so good. As I was thinking about my family, a shadow from an abandoned house jumped out, and grabbed the boy and the box. While the boy desperately tried to break free from the man’s iron grip, another figure jumped out from underneath the shadows, and grabbed the man by the throat. “Papa?” the little boy questioned.
“Tokie?” the man answered his voice deep but gentle. The dad and his son stared at each other until they finally recognized each other and started crying. The little boy told his dad, that he was separated from him when a big tsunami occurred destroying peoples homes and lives. He got dragged into the water by the force of wind and washed up on a shore that was unfamiliar to him. That’s when he met Leo. A good-for nothing guy who skinned animals alive and made a living out of it. Tokie had no choice but to join. He didn’t have any food, and that was the only job that paid enough to keep him going. That was also when he met me. He was sick and tired of his ghastly work, and decided to rescue him. A groaning voice got us back on track. As Tokie’s father made short work of Leo, and handed him over to the police, I heard a familiar meowing. It was my brother!!! I leapt down from the box like a caged lion, and greeted my brother. Memories flowed through my mind as I embraced my happy brother. Tokie and his father later joined us, and Tokie pleaded his father to let him keep me and my brother. One thing that I didn’t know, was that Tokie’s father Jim, already adopted kittens. My parents. It was a shocking surprise for us all.
As I stretched my paws across the hard, wooden floor, I realized that this was my forever home. Then I fell into a deep, relaxing sleep.

Scaredy Student

Jennie sat at her bedroom window, gazing out into the rolling lush fields of clover.
She had always dreamed of getting a dog or a horse, but her fears had sabotaged her future. She was mainly scared of bugs. When she was 5 years old, her mother had gone outside to get honey out of the bee hives that lines their fields. They looked like vanilla with mint ice cream. And while she was reaching her hand into the sticky hive, she slipped on some grass still covered with the morning dew, and the whole hive came down with her. And that’s when she found out in a painful way, that she was allergic to bees.
One week after her mother’s death she started making her list of fears as she crawled deeper and deeper into her hole, shutting off the rest of the world. She wasn’t the typically girl who got over everything. When she sensed fear, she clung to it.
Now after 7 years she still had fears. Jennie and her dad lived in Kleefield, Manitoba on a honey farm. Their produce would go to the store, and be sold. One day while Jennie was sitting out in the shade of her favorite oak tree, she heard a string of barking come from the field that was on the left of their house. Suddenly a dog appeared, it’s ruff coat was coated in burrs, and he was panting hard. Then a pack of vicious dogs came into view. Jennie grabbed a nearby stick and drove them off. Then her dad appeared from the back door, “Jennie what are you doing with that dog?” Jennie remained quiet. She knew that talking wouldn’t let her keep the dog. She and her dad, never really had a connection. It was her mom that Jennie had gotten close to. After a while, Jennie noticed that she was spending a lot of time outside, and then she realized that the dog she had encountered had helped her forget her fear of spiders and ticks, and make her realize the more important things in her life. Then she happily skipped into the house. To tell her father the good news, and then he might consider keeping the dog.
And that was exactly what happened.

Powerful

I feel powerful when….. I sit down and read a book. My mind can unleash it’s imagination and it feels like I actually am in the book. I also feel powerful when I go to Track and Field, and run. Blood pumping through my veins, I feel like I am flying. When I ride on a horse I also feel powerful because I am above the ground. And the whole world is down below me.

My First Post.......

The crisp morning air greeted me as I walked to the school bus this morning.
